Geeks From India Launch Android Ladoo Campaign!

They did not succeed the last time they campaigned for the next version of Android to be called Kaju Katli – but that’s not putting off Annkur Agarwal and his team of geeks to rally behind another campaign. Having their Kaju Katli hopes dashed following the decision by Google to call Android 4.4 KitKat, they have just launched another campaign to codename the next version of Android (after version 4.4) to be called Android Ladoo.

The team has went ahead and created a new promotional page for the campaign which reads thus:

Dear Google,
You know we continue to love Android. We poured our heart into KajuKatli for Android and you disappointed us 🙁

We mailed KajuKatli boxes to Larry Page and Andy Rubin. We handed KajuKatli to Amit Singhal in person and also campaigned outside your Android building in Mountain View. But alas, you’ve decided to name the next version of Android as KitKat.

We are Indians. We have a big heart. We understand that there might be commercial pressures to do so. Or may be our voices were just not loud enough to make KajuKatli Android a reality. We still love Android and we are committed to see a version of Android that is dedicated after an Indian sweet. With enough advance notice this time, we request you to name the next version of Android as LADOO.

We love Ladoo, and we’re sure you will too! So, to make this deal sweeter, we are sending your team a box of ladoos very soon 🙂

Ladoo as most of you might be already aware is a popular Indian sweet that comes in various flavors. While there are many variants of Ladoo’s, the ubiquitous round and yellow delicacy is instantly recognizable across the entire Indian sub-continent – including Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal. With Android adoption rates scaling new heights in this part of the world, according to the promoters of the campaign naming the next version of Android after a sweet which is instantly identifiable by almost all of the 1.5 billion people in the sub-continent is only fitting its increasing popularity here.

As of writing this, the Ladoo campaign has already seen well over 1400 plus signatures. The team also plans to celebrate 18th of September as Ladoo day. While there are naysayers who opine that it is improbable that Google would ever name an Android version after an Indian sweet, Annkur and his team remain confident. They would soon be sending a box of Ladoos to folks over at Google to let them realise the deliciousness of Ladoos themselves!

Do you think Google would give in to these bunch of persistent geeks this time round? Listen to his pitch here:

Disclaimer: The promoter of the Ladoo campaign also happens to be the founder of this blog – but is currently not actively involved in the editorial team – although this blog is still a part of Kratee E-Commerce & Consulting, a firm owned by Annkur Agarwal.
