Apple gearing up to launch iTunes web service?

The big announcement is just a stone throw away and while all the speculations about the iPod refresh, touchscreen shuffle and the iTV gets highlighted, Apple might well be preparing to pull a small rabbit from its hat on wednesday. According to AllthingsD Apple might bring in the web based iTunes service that is rumored since long. While Apple’s acquisition of Lala.com it was rumored that Apple would bring in its iTunes.com as a streaming service, but for now the claim is that the light weight web version allowing you to share your music preferences much more easily over social media / web. Currently the only way you can interact with iTunes service is either on your iOS device or via the desktop software, this might be the beginning that shifts things to the browser (cloud) going forward.

Apple is set to reveal some unseen, unheard things on 1st September (its annual music event). While we continue to read speculations / rumors; the wait is just getting more and more exciting. Though we confess, the hardware bit of the announces appeals more to us than the services…
