Apple iPad Air, iPad Mini With Retina Display Ready For December 7 India Debut

Apple will start selling its fifth generation iPad – the iPad Air in India starting December 7, 2013. In a press release issued by the company’s distribution partner Ingram Micro they have also confirmed that the same day will also mark the debut of the second generation iPad Mini. Both these products were introduced on October 23 internationally and went on sale starting November 1.

The iPad Air is thinner and faster than the outgoing fourth generation iPad. It features a dual core Apple Cyclone processor running at 1.4 Ghz housed inside the A7 SoC. Graphics is handled by the PowerVR G6430 GPU. There is 1 GB of DDR3 RAM thrown in as well. The iPad Air would come in two versions – Wi-Fi only and Wi-Fi+ Cellular. Amongst these two variants, there would be choices for different capacity versions starting from the 16 GB version to the top of the line 128 GB variant. In India, Ingram Micro has revealed the price of the 16 GB version of the Wi-Fi only model would be Rs. 35,900. It would be initially made available in the much talked about silver and space grey colors. The iPad Mini on the other hand would be priced at Rs.28,900.

Apple is holding two simultaneous launch events at Delhi and Mumbai for those of you who are interested in getting the new iPads on the first day itself. In Delhi, the event is scheduled to be held at DLF Promenade, Vasant Kunj while in Mumbai, you would need to get to Phoenix Mills at Lower Parel to witness the event.
