Apple TV Refreshed, 1080p, Same Price, A5 Processor? Launches 16th March

Apple TV 2012

The much rumored Apple TV refresh is here and it is nothing like a real TV screen from Apple with Siri or Kinect like gestures. It is the same old black box with a new ‘streamlined’ interface.

Apple has taken its own sweet time to refresh the Apple TV (last was in 2010) and it seems they were waiting to get 1080p movies on iCloud before they announced this. Of course and the Retina Display iPad. Yes, the Apple TV now supports 1080p playback compared to the 720p on the previous generation, thanks to the upgrade A5 processor.

Apple announced that iTunes movies would now be available in 1080p and at the same time iCloud would also sync movies from now. That means you can share movie content across iOS devices including the Apple TV. We would believe that iOS 5.1 would facilitate this new iCloud feature on all your iOS devices today itself. The price for the Apple TV remains the same at $99 and it would go on sale from 16th March in selected countries. Pre-order on!

PS: We have a little doubt on the A5 chip since this is what Apple.com shows:
