Blackberry Loses Seesmic

Seesmic Blackberry

CEO trouble isn’t all that RIM is facing at the moment, Seesmic has announced that they are discontinuing development for Blackberry to concentrate better on iOS, Android and Windows Phone 7. Of course there are alternatives for Blackberry users, but losing a developer in this fashion doesn’t really send good signals to the community. Apparently Blackberry is looking to switch to QNX  for its smartphones as well (their tablet is already running QNX) and development support on the same would be crucial for them to make a comeback in the smartphone race.

While it may not be as bad as Skype abandoning Windows Phone 7 (Microsoft ultimately bought them out), this news would surely affect the sentiments about RIM’s, which has been hammered in the stock markets recently. We just hope Android apps running via a tweak isn’t the grand idea here.
