2008 has been a fantastic year for OnlyGizmos and personally for our team members. With all the time we spent together running around for coverage and at the same time managing our slim finances; we seem to have grown several years older 
Here are some of our best moments of 2008, thank you for all the love and support:
- The year started on a high with excellent coverage of the IIT TechFest. Jimmy Wales interview and more.
- The OG 1st Anniv in May was memorable and we had 1/3 of a million hits till then
- Our Editor Annkur P Agarwal was invited to write the Cover Story on Gadgets for One India One People, something that makes us feel really special
- Around the same time we also Partnered IIIT Hyderabad RoboCamp
- After hitting several technical issues and a dull phase we managed to shift to WordPress towards the end of the year. Thanks to Asif (Cubex Systems, Pakistan) and OGz Mohit for all the technical support.
- The year had began with another small venture iPhone Help; that was the brain child of our own Piyansh Mantry and Tassavur Shaikh. While OG hit a rough patch IPHelp worked and we are proud that it has made a name for itself. From being a part of OG to being the strongest link of the OG Network
- Another cheer towards the year end was the MPSTME Taqneeq 08, where we were again the official Online Media Partners. We had a wonderful outing, reminded us of the IIT TechFest

Its no news that Mumbai (infact India) is witnessing its worst terrorist attack. The financial capital of the nation where life moves at the speed of light has been brought to a stand still. A silence on the roads that I have never witnessed since 26th July 05 (Yeah the rainy day). Though I have promoted the community factor in fighting crimes; acknowledging that the govt and police have a tough job in hand (we are a country of 1 Billion remember!), I can only ask hope for a better life in Mumbai.
To all our readers in Mumbai and across the world - Keep up the spirit, Let us pledge to fight against terror.

You must have noticed the changed look of the site since morning. We have temporarily switched back to a basic theme for our CMS. This is to provide relief to several users running IE7 who have been facing trouble loading the site. We shall return to our original Avatar as soon as the bug is fixed.

July 17, UPDATE: We are still facing issues. Apologies for all the trouble. Things look stable for now, Appreciate all the support. We are resuming new posts.

As you must have noticed, OnlyGizmos was unavailable for almost the entire day today as we faced problems with out Hosting Co. Though we are back live now running a backup copy of our DB from last week, we fear some data loss. We are still in early stages of determining what really happened, but the good news is that we are BACK. Cheers
UPDATE: We are undergoing a manual recovery of the lost data, More downstairs
- Several articles between 3-july till date would have ‘OG BOT’ as the author name instead of the actual author.
- All comments placed after 3rd July are lost
- Users who registered after 3rd July might need to register again
- All Articles posted between 13-15th July are lost
- Some stats are missing (hits on articles), though our Google Analytics and StatCounter data is always there!
The situation at the moment looks much better that what it appeared a few hours ago, when we were sitting with almost all data lost and absolutely nothing in hand. What happened and how, later!

OnlyGizmos turns 1 today! OGz began with its first post on 13th May 2007 and its been a glorious year and at the same time it has been a great learning experience for us. OGz began with a passion for technology and we are all charged up for delivering quality content for many more years to come. Its simply great interacting with all of you here…

The Taj Mahal, a monument which has been described as ?poetry in marble? was constructed by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. He erected this mausoleum in the memory of his beloved wife, Arjumand Bano Begum, who had the title ?Mumtaz Mahal?, who died in AD 1630.
According to the history of Taj Mahal it is believed that her dying wish to her husband was ?to build a tomb in her memory such as the world had never seen before.? Indeed, centuries later, no tomb has been able to even remotely equal the glory of the marvellous Taj.
India’’s Taj Mahal has been nominated in the final round of New7Wonders.
The New 7 Wonders of the World will be announced during the Official Declaration ceremony in Lisbon, Portugal on Saturday, July 7, 2007 - 07.07.07. ‘, ‘
The following was the criteria for shortlisting the monuments: 
Time Span - The New 7 Wonders of the World covered the whole span of human history, from the earliest time that man began to make his mark upon earth, to the year 2000 A.D.
Structure Quality - All monuments and buildings had to be human-built (signifying that the hand of man had to be involved in the fashioning of the monument or building). All monuments had to be in a sufficient state of preservation where the originators vision could still be perceived without artificial aids ? ruins, however well tended or reconstructed with visual aids, could not be nominated.
Geographic Dimension -Monuments and buildings from all countries and continents in the whole world were eligible and invited to be nominated. However, only 21 candidates from 21 countries were selected as finalists, eligible for voting. (Only one finalist was allowed per country).
Artistic And Cultural Value - Monuments and buildings had to have artistic or architectural value. Purely technological wonders, whose sole purpose was the application or use of technology, and untouched natural wonders which had no human intervention, would be included in future projects of New 7 Wonders.
Recognition Factor - Many of the nominated monuments and buildings had to be universally recognizable.
Diversity - Monuments and buildings had to reflect and celebrate the cultural and social diversity of the people of the world.
