It started with yet another bit of uninspired commentary on yet another irrelevant website, designed to capture the attention of self-obsessed Apple fans.

The original piece – one of zillions on this topic – couln’t even manage to gather a single comment. And, now, you guys have reprinted it, adding only the crazy idea that this weird app was ‘introduced’ on (or by) the Motorola Droid and that – oddly – Droid itself sought publicity.

Even the original author was careful to state that this app was designed by a small, independent developer. How on earth you might suspect that a major company – much less, a phone itself – was behind this effort is beyond human comprehension.

Talk about #fail.

On how I see this,

Its actually a publicity stunt by the App developer. They certainly knew the idea is gonna bomb. But they made news.

But they did TEASE apple

Just your way of looking at it.
1st iDroid would have reached a lot more people if it made to the application store.
2nd it would have been an embarrassment for Apple to allow such publicity through their network.
3rd the failure to reach the AppStore is negative publicity, which means that the stunt was a #fail

The headline “Droid’s publicity stunt via Apple’s AppStore failed” doesn’t make sense. If you’re writing about this then isn’t it a success?

I’m not sure what the point of this article is except to write about a news item that received far more intelligent commentary elsewhere.
