Remember Sony Ericsson’s motion sensing earphones? Well, they ain’t that cool anymore. NTT Docomo’s latest technological advancement is a pair of earphones that can be controlled by eye movements. With the help of special electrodes, the earphones are able to detect the charge between the cornea and the retina of the eye and thus understand the direction in which the eyes are moving. The amount of calibrated charge helps control the earphones.
You can play, pause, change tracks and adjust the volume up and down using the eye moment. Blimey! You can do all of that even with your eyes closed. You would be controlling tracks even when you are sleeping with all those rapid eye movements. Makes me wonder if its a matter of time when these will read your mind and play accordingly. You’ll just have to put these earphones on your head and Ta-da!
No denying the fact that these earphones can do a lot, but imagine talking to someone while making those eye movements? They’d think you’ve gone nuts or something. Besides, the natural eye movements may trigger some controls of the earphone which may ruin the music playback. The ear phones really seem like a great idea. But I wonder how good they may be for the eyes! What kind of harm, if any, they will cause needs to be found out!
Using these ear phones while actually talking to someone..or doing some other complex thing..can actually lead to some cool fusion tracks..:D
