Mozilla has released the latest version of its web browser, the Firefox 3.5.  Mozilla claims that Firefox 3.5 is the “Fastest, Safest and Smartest” Firefox yet. Firefox is the World’s second most used web browser & this new release is spreading across the internet like a wildfire.

The new web browser, released an year after the previous version, hit the one million download mark in just few hours after its release.  Mozilla has launched a real-time tracker that tells you the current download status of Firefox across the world. As of now, Firefox has already crossed more than 3 million downloads. Firefox 3.5 is most popular amongst the users in US, Germany, Japan and France.

Released in 70 different languages, Firefox 3.5 has many upgrades to look up to. Firefox 3.5 comes with a new JavaScript Engine – TraceMonkey. TranceMonkey supports running of heavy JavaScript on web pages like meebo or Google Docs.

Another interesting feature is the Local Aware Browsing. Local Aware Browsing requires your permission for Firefox to track you according to your IP address. The browser can then provide you greater personalization and local access websites.

For the web developers, Firefox 3.5 has the support for HTML 5 and downloadable fonts. HTML 5 allows the web developers to embed audio and video elements directly into the HTML pages. While downloadable fonts would open up lots of customized fonts for the web pages.

Going the Google Chrome way, FF 3.5 now supports Tab Tearing. Tab Tearing is the feature wherein a tab can be separated from the browser in order to start in its own dedicate window. The same is applicable in reverse. Firefox also has the feature called Recently Closed Tabs and Recently Closed Windows. The feature allows the users to open accidentally closed tabs and windows.

Private Browsing is also on offer now. Private Browsing is the browsing session for which Firefox would not remember any of your browsing history. Which means no browsing history, download history, temporary Internet files or cookies for the Private Browsing session. Firefox 3.5 also includes a command called “Forget about this site”. The command deletes all the history related to that particular website. This is good for you know WHAT :)

Just upgraded to v3.5 and hoping it can bring me back to FireFox (I gave Chrome a try for a month).
