Google Earth helps Law Enforcement

Google Earth may not be the service that defence officials encourage. The software has been criticized by a number of special groups, including national officials, as being an invasion of privacy and even posing a threat to national security.
However it certainly helps Law Enforcement agencies to track a number of illegal activities ranging from harvesting drugs to property tax evasion. Using the enterprise edition of the software helps these agencies get much more recent pictures.
“It’s not certain that how many law enforcement agencies are actively using Google Earth, but one thing is certain: looking at Google’s Earth’s detailed images is a lot cheaper than flying helicopters or planes, particularly in remote areas with cash-strapped police departments.”
