Google Explains its New Caffeine Indexing System

Google has let out some new insights about its new web indexing system called Caffeine. Caffeine was introduced 10 months back and finally after proper testing very soon it will be implemented in the Google Search engine. Indexing done by the most search engines is almost similar to that done to the books. Google being the biggest search engine was in search of some improvement with the current web indexing system and thus they brought in Caffeine. With the new indexing system Caffeine, Google promises 50% fresher search results for the user queries, not only fresher but also faster response to the search queries. All sorts of queries like posts, image, video, real time news, forum posts or contents that are published are indexed at a greater speed by Caffeine and thus present the user with all relevant results much faster than the older index. Google’s main idea is to satisfy people with better search results and also accommodate web’s growth in terms of size and number.

The above figure shows the working of the old index and Caffeine

The main layer of the old index is refreshed once in two weeks after analysing the whole web, whereas in Caffeine small portions are analysed and updated continuously (looks like Social Media is gaining more importance now). Caffeine takes up hundreds of millions gigabytes of information and stacks them in the database which will be faster than the old index. With Caffeine being one of the steps in search engine improvisation, Google aims to get a few more changes in the coming future. One thing is for sure, Google wants to remain the king of all search engines, for a long time! Do webmasters need to worry? I guess not.
