Google Now Working on Mapping Oceans

Google has mapped the sky and land masses also some of the planets like Mars, Moon, Earth, and so on. Not to much of a surprise though but Google is now working on mapping oceans. The Google Oceans will be a 3D model similar to Google Earth!
The new application will have features like zooming & panning. People will be able to see the underwater topography, called bathymetry, search for particular spots or attractions, view of island border etc. The work started from December 2007, when the company assembled a team of oceanography experts from California to design to Google Ocean.
Google Ocean name is a temporary name and might change during launch.The Google ocean will be using much high resolution photography of the underwater terrain as possible, offering more than just a map. But these kind of quality rich picture to integrate in Google Oceans could take more than 100 years.
