Honeycomb Android Tablets Require Dual-Core Processors? Probably Not!

Google is all set to reveal Honeycomb along with the Motorola tablet at CES and we guess the SDK / release details would also go out then. While the Honeycomb love is exclusive to Motorola, it is weird to see that none of the other cos have a concerete picture of how things will work out. Toshiba has announced its Honeycomb tablet, but is demoing it with Gingerbread at CES. Samsung is not able to promise a Honeycomb release for Galaxy Tab and HTC probably wants to wait till MWC to announce the ‘Scribe’. And thus rumors like a Dual Core requirement flying around look pretty logical. But we are skeptical!

Our source tell us that there is no official word on Honeycomb’s hardware requirements from Google (to its partners). We are also suggested that Google won’t restrict the Honeycomb to Dual core processors / hardware requirement, specially since the Tegra 2 is the only commercially available Dual Core chip (ARM Cortex-A9 compatible) out there.

The excitement over the Motorola tablet is building and we would be really surprised if Google indeed comes out with Honeycomb with a Dual Core requirement, yes even when RIM claims its needed for QNX.
