Recent reports show that there has been a 90 percent surge in the smartphone market in India. Amongst the 21.6 million smartphones sold in the last quarter of 2014, 41 percent were in the bracket of $100 to $200 (around INR 6000 to INR 12000). This suggests that the users are now switching towards the mid-range devices. Possibly following these figures, HTC has launched HTC Desire 626. This device is priced at TWD 5,990 (around INR 11,800). Although the device has been showcased on the official website for Taiwan but its release in India or anywhere else globally isn’t specified yet.
HTC Desire 626 sports a 5-inch display unit with HD (720*1280 pixels) resolution. Underneath the HD display unit, it holds a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor clocking at 1.2GHz. The processor is assisted with RAM space of 1GB. With the internal storage capacity of 16GB, memory capacity can be expanded up to 128GB using microSD cards.
Primary camera unit for the device is of 13MP with the signature BSI sensor and LED flash. Secondary snapper is of 5MP type which too is equipped with a BSI sensor. The primary camera is equipped with features like panorama, scene detection, best shot, HDR options, etc. Most noticeable connectivity feature of Desire 626 is 4G LTE support. Apart from this, other features read as WiFi, A-GPS, micro USB, DLNA, FM radio, etc. Powered by a non-removable 2000mAh battery, HTC claims it to deliver up to 30 hours of talktime and about 760 hours of standby on 3G network.
The official website also boasts about DotView cases for Desire 626. This bright display protective sleeve will enable the user to answer a call without using the screen, get messaging notifications, etc. This gives a retro and stylish look to the device. This device works on Android OS of unspecified version and comes equipped with HTC BlinkFeed.
