Huawei P20, P20 Pro, Porsche Design Mate RS Goes Official

Yesterday, Huawei announced the much hyped P20 and P20 Pro flagship phones through a launch event in Europe. Alongside the P20 duo, the company also unveiled the premium Porsche Design Mate RS flagship phone. Here is all the information available on its specs, features and pricing:

Huawei P20, P20 Pro Specifications and Features

Huawei P20 and P20 series smartphone sport identical design as they are fitted with a notched display. Below the display is a multiple-purpose that carries support for gestures for navigation and it is embedded with a fingerprint scanner. Both the smartphones feature glass panels on the front and rear sides. The P20 is an IP53 certified splash-resistant body whereas the P20 Pro has an IP67 rated dust and waterproof chassis.

The Huawei P20 measures 149.1 x 70.8 x 7.7mm and it weighs 165 grams. On the other side, the P20 Pro that features a slightly larger display measures 155 x 73.9 x 7.8mm and it weighs 180 grams. The P20 features a 5.8-inch IPS LCD display whereas the P20 Pro features a bigger AMOLED screen of 6.1 inches. Both the display support Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2244 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18.7:9. Also, both smartphones deliver slightly over 80 percent screen-to-body ratio. Because of the OLED display, the P20 Pro also carries support for always-on display features.

The Kirin 970 chipset is the driving force for P20 and P20 Pro smartphones. The P20 includes 4 GB of RAM and inbuilt storage of 64 GB. On the other side the P20 Pro comes with 6 GB of RAM and an internal storage of 128 GB. The hybrid SIM slot can be used for adding a microSD card to the P20 duo. The P20 receives power from 3,400mAh battery whereas the P20 Pro is packed with a huge 4,000mAh battery. The batteries of P20 duo carry support for Huawei’s Super Charge fast charging technology. On P20 Pro, it offers a rapid charging at the rate of 22.5W.

The Leica branded dual rear cameras includes a primary 12-megapixel RGB sensor with f/1.6 aperture and a pixel size of 1.55micron. The primary sensor also supports optical image stabilization. It is coupled with a secondary 20-megapixel monochrome sensor with f/1.6 aperture.

The dual cameras are equipped with features like dual-tone LED flash, 2x loseless zoom, phase detection autofocus (PDAF), laser autofocus, instant autofocus, depth detection and 720p slow-motion video shooting at 960 fps.

The Leica triple camera system available on the P20 Pro includes an OIS enabled 40-megapixel RGB sensor with an f/1.8 aperture lens, an 8-megapixel telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture and a 20-megapixel monochrome sensor with f/1.6 aperture. The triple camera setup of the P20 Pro supports all the camera features of the P20 Pro along with other features such as maximum IOS of 102,400, 3x optical zoom and 5x hybrid zoom.

For snapping selfie shots, the P20 and P20 Pro feature the same 24-megapixel Sony IMX578 sensor with f/2.0 aperture that is available on the P20 Lite smartphone. Both the smartphones are preinstalled with Android 8.1 Oreo that is customized with EMUI 8.1. It includes a new feature for the screen that darkens the display area on the either sides of notch that gives a notch-free look. The front camera also doubles as facial recognition feature with 2D mapping. In the dark, it automatically lights up the display while using the face unlock feature.

Huawei P20 Pro Color

The P20 is already available for buying with a pricing of 649 euros.  On the other hand, the P20 Pro will go sale starting from April 6 with a pricing of 899 euros. The P20 Pro duo can be bought in colors like Black, Midnight Blue, Pink Gold, Champagne Gold and Twilight.

Porsche Design Huawei Mate RS Specifications and Pricing

The Porsche Design Huawei Mate RS is the latest premium flagship phone from the Chinese manufacturer. It is blessed with the same triple camera setup that is found on the rear side of the Huawei P20 Pro. Below the triple camera setup is a fingerprint reader. At that front too, it features a fingerprint sensor. However, it is embedded under the display.

Unlike the P20 duo, the Mate RS does not house a notched screen, but it features a 6-inch OLED display that supports 18:9 aspect ratio and Quad HD+ resolution. It borrows some other specs from the P20 Pro such as Kirin 970 chipset, 6 GB of RAM and 4,000mAh battery that supports Super Charge and wireless charging.

Porsche Design Huawei Mate RS

To keep the internal temperature under control, the Mate RS is equipped with microcapsule PCM cooling technology. It is also equipped with stereo speakers. The backside of the phone is fitted with the usual Porsche Design symbol. The Porsche Design Huawei Mate RS comes in storage variants like 256 GB and 512 GB. The handset can be availed in black or red color options. However, the red variant will remain exclusive to China.

The 256 GB and 512 GB storage variants of the Porsche Design Huawei Mate RS are respectively priced at 1,695 euros and 2,095 euros. The handset will be available for buying starting from April 12.
