IIT TechFest 08: Day 2

Day 2 of the IIT Techfest 08 is underway and here we have the latest buzz from the campus…More updates on day 2 events now live!

Pyromania rocked!!! The day had its great ending with Pyromania having given a great performance. As a Goodwill gesture the team also performed on Vande Matram for the occasion of Repulic Day. With the end of day approaching, we are only left with a few major events here at the IIT TechFest 08. The most sought after event of the day shall be the performance ‘Pyromania’ at the 7PM. Yesterday the Lumen Group performed and we are working to get all the exclusive videos online.

4:30PM: Pixel has ended. We have a video of the winner and his machine. The same shall be uploaded shortly. You can view the pictures at the Gallery.

3:45PM: Open Source Discussion is over. It was a basics covering definition, meaning and security.

3:34PM: Wings is going on in full swing. And the gliders in this round are great. Also Vedic mathematics and Pixel

3:15PM: The Rubiks cube session with which the student had a lot of expectation. The expectation of themselves being able to solve the cube in a minute and do it blindfolded. And I can tell you that the students were not left disappointed. The session was conducted by Sachin a third yr. IIT student (a future great if we are allowed to say that). The trick is to solve the grid with the help of algorithms which you need to learn by heart and then…
Yes you guessed it you can solve it in a minute and blindfolded as well.

I must say Bravo!!!

3:00PM: MicroMouse Workshop with the UK MicroMouse champions Jim and Derek is underway.

The talk of the day i.e. the BMW TALK was here. It was being conducted by Kernel Ghogte. Who better than an army man to speak on the safety features of the car. Kernel Ghogte is a dealer for the BMW in South Mumbai. He had a laptop with him and not only spoke about the features of the car but also aided it with the help of short video clips and ppt.(would probably explain why the laptop). The students were left impressed with the presentation. There was a Merc parked outside the session hall and as expected was flooded with bees (read students).

Wings and Prison break

12:15AM: Dr Dinesh Keskars lecture about Boeing 787 Dream liner has concluded. Our editor has the full coverage being prepared. Dr Keskar introduces us to the 787 series and its variants. he talked about the sales, technological improvements and also addressed the issues about the delivery delays.

11:58AM: We also see the Wings competition underway. Although most of them crash landed, some of them actually did very well. Our reporter Kunal is out there to get the latest pictures shortly!

11:45AM: Full Throttle Grand Prix - Cars are facing starting problems due to the cold weather, and its really sad that most cars didn’t go through!
