iPhone 3G is now official!

After all the hype and drama (read daily iPhone rumors) Apple at last unveiled its new faster and shiny 3G iPhone with the latest iPhone 2.0 firmware. Here are the specs you are dying to know:
- You probably know by now that the new iPhone comes in 2 colours, Black and White! But there is more, the 8GB would be in black only while the 16GB version of the new iPhone would offer both Black as well as the White colour.
- Yes the magical pricing $199 for the 8GB and $299 for the 16GB. Sad part, getting unlocked ones wouldn’t be possible.
- Camera remains to be the same – NO CHANGE (Yes we are crying, but wait – the newer iPhones 32GB, WiMax, WiFi ‘n’ and more … Next year. We are eagerly waiting
) - It certainly isn’t thinner as what was rumored before, but the edges are really thin, which gives a good feel.
- No dock included in the box. So be ready to shell out some more $$, as the old dock won’t fit this one.
- The headphone jack is proper 3.5mm, and no adapters required this time.
- The device is 3G, but Apple claims faster 3G page loading on the iPhone as compared to Nokia N95 and the Treo.
- Also not to forget that the Aluminum back is gone, its now plastic – But still feels shiny and rich.
- Apple also claims a amazing battery life, 24hrs music, 5 hours 3G talk, 8-10 hrs 2G talk time, 7 hours video playback and more
- Also incase you were searching for the term UNLOCKED – Here it is. The word is that Aussies might be the first to get their hands on the iPhone 3G without a contract!
- No front camera in the 3G iPhone.
iPhone features A-GPS, Which uses mixed satellite data with the local cellular towers to provide better navigation. Also 3G can be manually triggered On or Off. iPhone 2.0 firmware supports Microsoft Office fully (iWork is fully compatible with MsOffice).
