iPhone coming to India with Vodafone or Airtel?
May 12th, 2008 by Annkur
Over the last week we read several reports of the Apple iPhone coming to India, but what disappointed us was a late September release date, which means when the world will enjoy the new 3G iPhones (Probably), Apple will dump its older models across the globe. It was announced that Vodafone would launch the iPhone in India (and several other countries).
But here today I see a report on Yahoo News that reads "Singapore Telecommunications Ltd and its mobile associates will bring Apple Inc’s (AAPL.O) popular iPhone to Singapore, India, Australia and the Philippines later this year … SingTel said that it, Bharti Airtel Ltd, Globe Telecom Inc and Australian unit Optus had signed the agreement with Apple."
So that makes me wonder as to who would bring the iPhone to India, Vodafone or Airtel (or probably both)!
Update: Ok, so as it seems Apple is not signing any exclusive deal for the iPhone. So both Airtel and Vodafone will get it. All we need to watchout is who gets it first. Also we heard a few voices that these deals might well be for the Next Gen 3G iPhone… Lets hope so…
