Kingston Wi-Drive – Wireless / External Storage For iOS Devices

Kingston has just pushed out its unique external storage solution Wi-Drive  and its coming to India. Currently supporting Apple handhelds running on iOS, this external storage solution lets you expand the capacity of your iOS device and lets you wireless access the stored data on the move. Wi-Drive has its own battery backup and connects to your iPhone, iPad or iTouch via WiFi.

One would however need to have the Wi-Drive app from the App Store installed  for this to work. So be it lack of storage on your iOS device or just a need to share some data across your iPad and iPhone, the Kingston Wi-Drive does the trick. Your portable content server is finally here!

You can transfer any data to this Wi-Drive using a USB cable (yes drag and drop!) and for many of us thats so much more convenient, rather than using a Dropbox app for docs or using iTunes sync.  The supported formats are

Audio: AAC, MP3, WAV | Video: m4v, mp4, mov, Motion JPEG (M-JPEG), AVI | Image: jpg, bmp, tiff | Document: pdf, doc, docx, ppt, pptx, txt, rtf, xls

This thing comes in 16GB and 32Gb flavors and costs $130 and $175 respectively. We await the India pricing from Kingston, but we are told that this would be on sale by end of June.
