Lava Iris 351 Smartphone Launched; Runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread

In yet another phone launch aimed at the masses, manufacturer of affordable handsets – Lava has announced the launch of its latest Android powered smartphone. Known as the Iris 351, this one is a dual SIM device running Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread. While I did say that the phone has been “announced” by Lava, I might as well add that it did not get a formal announcement by the company. It simply appeared out of the blue on popular online shopping portals like Flipkart, Saholic and Infibeam.

As for the features on this one, let me at the outset say that this is a barebones Android handset priced at a very affordable Rs.3899. The feature set includes a 3.5-inches HVGA touch-screen display with a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels,a 1GHz Processor, 256MB RAM, 110MB internal storage, expandable memory upto 16GB via Micro SD cards. Taking care of the imaging bit is a 2 MP rear camera. Connectivity options include FM radio, WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPRS. There seems to e no support for 3G. Powering the hardware is a decently capable 1300mAh battery.

This is one of the many phones that Lava is expected to release in the coming months. The company had earlier said that it plans to release as many as five more Iris branded phones to their portfolio between until March 2013.
