Lava has just unveiled two phones in their Fuel series. They are the Iris Fuel 10 and Iris Fuel 25. The devices are priced at Rs. 6,540 and Rs. 5,600 respectively. Both the phones have a powerful 3000mAh battery and battery life is the USP of these devices. Airtel users can avail of 500 MB of 3G data free per month for two months with the purchase of any of the two phones. The free data offer will be only available to prepaid consumers and is valid till June 30 2015.
With regards to other specifications, the Lava Iris Fuel 10 has a 4.5 inch, 480p display with the pixel density of 218 PPI. It is a Dual SIM phone, packed with 1GB of RAM and runs on a 1.3GHz Quad Core processor. The rear camera has a 5 Megapixel sensor which does 1080p video recording while the front camera sports a 2 Megapixel sensor. The phone comes with 8GB of storage but a supports microSD card upto 32GB.
Now to the Fuel 25. The device has a 5 inch, 480p display so that makes the pixel density a bit lower than that of the Fuel 10. This too has two SIM slots but is packed with just 512MB of RAM and runs a 1.3GHz Dual Core processor. It comes with lesser internal storage (4GB) as compared to the Fuel 10 but this phone supprts microSD cards upto 32GB. The 5 Megapixel rear camera on the Fuel 25 can record videos upto 720p and it also has a VGA camera on the front.
While both the phones are shipped with Android KitKat (4.4), the Fuel 10 is guaranteed an upgrade to Android 5.0 (Lollipop) there is no official update as to if the Fuel 25 will get the update or not. But still it is good that Lava is pushing an update for a phone that cost just Rs. 6,000. Besides them a lot of local players are taking updates seriously with Intex launching the Aqua Star L with Android Lollipop itself. Now it remains to be seen as to how well these phones perform in the market as the segment of smartphones under Rs. 7,000 is getting really competitive.
