Lenovo K8 Plus Announced with Dual Cameras, Stock Android, Multimedia Features

In 2016, Lenovo released the Lenovo K5, K5 Note, K5 Plus, K6 Note and K6 Power smartphones. This year, the company has already released the Lenovo K8 Note in August and today, it has officially announced the Lenovo K8 and K8 Plus smartphones in the same series. The unveil event was held in New Delhi today at 11:30 AM. The K8 Plus is the cheapest smartphone from the company to come with dual rear cameras.

Design and Display

The unibody chassis of the Lenovo K8 Plus is built with 5000-series aluminum. The curved edges on the rear panel accentuates its appeal. It comes in two color choices: Venom Black and Fine Gold. The phone measures 154.5 x 75.9 x 8.5 mm and it is slightly bulky as it weighs 180 grams.

The vertically stacked dual cameras and fingerprint scanner are present on the back panel. The bottom side of the smartphone houses a microUSB port that is placed between a pair of external speakers. A 3.5mm audio jack is placed on the topside. The left edge of the phone houses a Music Key that can be reconfigured to launch other apps. The right side features the volume buttons and the Power key.

The handset features a 5.2-inch IPS display that supports Full HD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. It is shielded by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and the layer of oleophobic coating prevents its chassis from fingerprint marks and smudges.

The Lenovo K8 features a 5.2-inch IPS display, but it supports an HD resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels.

Cameras, Software and Other Features

The Lenovo K8 Plus has a 13-megapixel sensor with f/2.0 aperture for shooting details and the other 5-megapixel f/2.0 aperture lens complements it as a depth sensor. Both the camera sensors work together in effectively focusing on the subject while blurring the background for bokeh effect shots. It has a f/2.0 aperture 8-megapixel snapper at the front that offers 84-degree wide-angle shooting. The Party flash that accompanies the selfie camera can light up in the shots in darker environments.

The Lenovo K8 Plus has a single camera of 13-megapixel enabled with PDAF on its rear side. The front side features the same selfie camera that is available on the Lenovo K8.

Lenovo phones usually feature Vibe UI over Android OS. However, the Lenovo K8 and K8 Plus do not feature Vibe UI as they are running on stock version of Android 7.1 Nougat.

The Dolby Atmos enabled Lenovo K8 duo deliver 360-degree surround sound effect. By using the K8 Plus or K8 in a regular VR headset, users can enjoy TheaterMax cinematic experience by viewing the contents of the display on a virtual large screen.

Chipset, RAM, Storage and Battery

The Lenovo K8 Plus is driven by MediaTek Helio P25 chipset whereas the Helio P20 is present under the hood of Lenovo K8. Both the smartphones feature 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of native storage. Apart from the two SIM card slots, the K8 and K8 Plus come with a dedicated slot for using microSD card. Lenovo has claimed that the 4,000mAh battery present inside both phones can last up to two days on a single charge.

The Lenovo K8 Plus will be exclusively available through Flipkart with a pricing of Rs. 10,999. Its sale will begin on the retailer site at 12 PM tomorrow. The above image shows all the exciting offers that are available for Lenovo K8 Plus buyers. Lenovo did not share any information on the pricing of the K8. It is expected to go on sale in about a week and it will be only available through offline retailers.
