LG had globally unveiled the LG V30 smartphone at the IFA 2017 tech trade show held in September at Berlin, Germany. However, the South Korean company has launched its latest flagship today in India. It has opted to skip the launch of LG V30 that has 64 GB storage in India. The LG V30+ that has been made official today in the country comes with a native storage of 128 GB.

LG V30+ Design and Display

LG V30+ is a premium flagship that features a military grade MIL-810-STDG metallic chassis that protects it from extreme weather conditions. Moreover, it is equipped with IP68 certification that makes it resistant to damage from water and dust. The thickness of the phone is only 7.3mm and according to LG, it is the lightest 6-inch phone available in the market as it weighs just 158 grams. Aurora Black and Cloud Silver are the two color variants of LG V30+ that will be available in India at the beginning. More color options are expected to be available at a later date.

The V30+ houses a polymer-OLED (P-OLED) display of 6 inches. It is dubbed as shatterproof display as it features a plastic substrate instead of glass that does not break easily. The screen is shielded by a layer of Gorilla Glass 5. Apart from an aspect ratio of 18:9, the 6-inch FullVision OLED display of the LG V30+ delivers a resolution of 2,880 x 1,440 pixels.

The predecessor LG V10 and V20 smartphones came with a main LCD panel and a secondary ticker screen for viewing notifications and other shortcuts. Since the LG V30+ has a larger OLED display, the company has axed the secondary ticker screen feature on the phone. The purpose of the additional screen is served by Always-On Display (AOD) feature that shows all the notifications on the lock screen while the display is in standby mode. A transparent Floating Bar also functions like secondary screen by displaying all the notifications, music player, screen grabber, frequently used apps, contacts and settings.

Cameras and Software

The rear panel of the LG V30+ houses a dual camera module that comprises of an f/1.6 aperture 16-megapixel sensor and a secondary f/1.9 aperture 13-megapixel wide-angle lens. The dual cameras are well-protected by Gorilla Glass 4 and it comes with features like 3-axis OIS, PDAF, laser autofocus and dual-LED flash. The frontside of the V30+ has an f/2.2 aperture 5-megapixel selfie camera.

It is running on Android 7.1.2 Nougat OS and LG’s own UX 6.0+ skin that includes various kinds of exclusive features such as 9 types of AOD screens. For a stellar camera experience, the UX 6.0+ brings Cine Effect feature that allow users to optimize videos by using professional grade color filters. The Graphy feature brings DSLR-like photography experience though the wide range manual presets.
