Avoid Long Conversations On Mobile Phones Post Marriage: Punjab State Women’s Commission

Now this is an interesting directive issued by the Punjab State Commission for Women. The commission, looking at the number of divorce cases piling up before them has come to the conclusion mobile phones are gradually becoming the root cause of a majority of these cases. According to them, newlyweds should be spending more time speaking to their husbands than talking with people on their mobile phones.

The commission also directs women to concentrate on their domestic duties so that their family life doesn’t go down the drain. The Commission blamed mobile phones for fostering jealousy in their husbands.

When asked, the head of the Women’s Commission explained that the advisory is only meant to keep new couples from splitting, to foster bonding amongst them and to keep suspicion away. The Commission chief says that almost 40 percent of women seek divorce saying that her in laws and husbands do not like them talking on mobile phones all the time.

Most husbands suspected them of talking to their ex-boyfriends and doubt their character- eventually leading to divorce. The Commission however also ads that in most cases, these girls are talking to their parents and not their ex-boyfriends!

According to the commission, these girls are providing “hourly information” on the latest happenings at her new home – for reasons best known to them!
