Milaap: Yahoo and Microsoft merge search engine!
July 29th, 2009 by Annkur

After all the drama and delays though Microsoft failed to acquire Yahoo, a search deal between the two has been finalized.
Reported by TechCrunch earlier the deal is expected to be announced tomorrow. This would make ‘Bing‘ the default search engine for Yahoo.com and Yahoo shall take over the entire AD sales Bing search. Currently Google dominates the online search and advertising market and this should bring more balance to the entire Internet.
Earlier a search advertising deal between Yahoo & Google was rejected by the regulators during antitrust investigation. The approval from Department of Justice would again be crucial for this Microsoft-Yahoo deal. It would be interesting to see if Google reacts to this or tries to jeopardize the deal.
Update: The deal has now been confirmed. Here is the press release
