Moto X4 is Official with Dual Cameras, Premium Design & Budget Pricing

The first ever Moto X phone with flagship specs had launched in 2013. The Moto X Force that arrived in 2015 was the last X series phone with top notch specifications as Motorola did not release a Moto X flagship phone in 2016. Instead, a new Z series of flagship smartphones such as Moto Z and Moto Z Force were introduced last year with modular capabilities. At the ongoing IFA 2017 tech trade show, Motorola has brought back the X series by showcasing the Moto X4. However, it is equipped with mid-range specs.

Moto X4 Design and Display

Measuring 148.4 x 73.5 x 8mm and weighing 163 grams, the Motorola Moto X4 boasts a premium design with metal and glass combination chassis. It will be available in color choices like Super Black and Sterling Blue. The IP68 rating brings water and dust resistance to the smartphone.

The presence of dual rear cameras enclosed in a circular housing and the contoured back accentuates the appeal of the smartphone. The capacitive home button is integrated with a fingerprint sensor. The USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm headphone jack can be found at the bottom side of the Moto X4. Unlike the Moto Z2 Force and Z2 Play smartphones, the Moto X4 does not support modular accessories.

The Motorola Moto X4 is fitted with a 5.2-inch LTPS IPS LCD screen that delivers a full HD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4.

Moto X4 Chipset, Storage Variants and Battery

The Moto X4 is the first Snapdragon 630 chipset driven smartphone. The SoC includes an octa-core processor that clocks at 2.2 GHz. Reports suggest that Moto X4 will be arriving with 3 GB of RAM and an internal storage of 32 GB in the U.S. and Europe. Other regions are expected to get 64 GB Moto X4 with 4 GB of RAM.

The smartphone also features a microSD card slot. It includes a 3,000mAh battery that is enabled with fast charging capabilities through Turbo Charging.

Moto X4 Cameras and Software

The rear-facing dual camera setup houses a f/2.0 aperture 12-megapixel that is coupled with Dual Pixel auto-focus and a f/2.2 aperture 8-megapixel ultra-wide angle lens that offers a field view of 120 degrees. The dual camera system that is enabled with features like dual-LED flash and PDAF. The Moto X4 offers various camera features such as bokeh effect and 4K video shooting.

The front-facing camera of 16-megapixel with f/2.0 aperture is supported by a LED flash. In the adaptive low-light mode, the camera resolution is reduced to 4-megapixel.

The near-stock edition of Android 7.1 Nougat OS comes preinstalled on Motorola Moto X4. Apart from the Google Assistant, the Moto X4 is integrated with Amazon’s Alexa voice assistant. The smartphone also includes some exclusive software features from Motorola. The Moto Key works as an inbuilt password manager. There is Quick Screenshot that allow users to capture an image of the screen by tapping with three fingers. Like other Motorola phones, it also features Moto Actions, Moto Voice, and Moto Display. The Bluetooth 5.0 powered with new Audio Bluetooth technology from Tempow lets the Moto X4 users to stream audio to up to 4 Bluetooth speakers/earphones simultaneously.

Moto X4 Pricing and Release Date

According to the official Motorola blog, the Moto X4 will be hitting various European countries in September with a price tag of 399 euros (~Rs. 30,200). It is expected to arrive in the U.S and other markets at some point in October and November.
