Moto Yuva w230 review

Quick Specs:

  • 65K 1.6-Inch CSTN Display
  • 500 Phonebook Entries
  • 500 SMS Storage Memory
  • Stereo FM Radio With Recording
  • MP3 Media Player

There isn’t much to talk about the W230 apart from the music. It has been highlighted as a cheap music phone and that’s where it gains popularity. The display is 1.6 inches with a resolution of 128 x 128 pixels. It also offers a microSD expansion supporting upto 2GB of memory. The handset stores 500 numbers and 500 messages. The handset also has a mini USB port for easy transfer of songs to the memory card.

The handset has a strong candybar design with average looks. Good enough for its class. It has a standard addition of games and apps: Sudoku and Tetris, calendar, stopwatch, calculator and alarm clock. You can also charge the phone via USB (This would require you to first install the drivers which can be located here).

One of the best parts of the low-end Motorola cellphones has always been the superior battery life. Although the W230 Yuva offers FM / MP3 the battery with media usage goes upto 2 days easily. Besides these the W230 also has an Internet browser (GPRS / WAP2.0 compliant). Although you won’t enjoy any serious surfing on it, connecting it to your PC as a modem for internet access is a good option. The FM recording function reminds me of the old Nokia 3300 which was immensely popular as a cheap MP3 phone.

Although the handset lacks connectivity options like Infrared and Bluetooth, at Rs 2999/- with a 256MB memory add-on, W230 Yuva is undoubtedly the entry level music phone for you! Although we suggest that you add a 1GB card along with it.
