New Bump app lets iPhone users share songs by touching phones!

Imagine being able to share a song with a friend by just touching your handset with that of your friend! Well, the new version of Bump, the software that made headlines with its ability to transfer pictures and contacts by touching two Android handsets or iPhones, has now got the ability to let users share songs by just touching their handsets together.

Well, share it to an extent – you cannot actually send the song from your device to that of your friend (that would be piracy, which would delight Jack Sparrow, but set the authorities on the tracks of the developers), but the person with whom you bump your iPhone after selecting the song you wish to share, can stream the song from YouTube, hear a preview from iTunes and (if that option is available in his or her country) purchase the track from the iTunes store.

Yes, we can hear the cynics chorus that that makes it more of a music recommendation than a transfer but we must still confess to being VERY impressed at the fact that you can recommend a friend listen to a particular song by just bumping your phone with theirs. Of course, both phones have got to be running Bump when the “bumping” takes place.

Best of all, the Bump app itself remains free. Worth downloading, we think. [iTunes Link]

  • how is this different to hocker… also, please cover (at least at high level) what the technology is… surely it’s not actually touch.. is it a particular moment in the same geographical area etc etc etc…

  • This is a load of sh*t. F*ck you bump. F*ck you apple. And F*ck all the musicians out there that make, in one week, what the average person makes in a lifetime.
