Nokia adds to platform confusion, adopts Microsofts Windows Phone 7

Nokia is all set to go the Windows Phone 7 route with rumors of a partnership with Microsoft turning out to be true. Not much details are available at the moment but the trend is clear. Last year at MWC it was Intel’s shoulders that gave support to Nokia and this year its Microsoft.

Add to that the years of attempt to upscale Symbian to match the might of the iOS / Android. Nokia’s platform strategy has failed yet again and even if they ship out a WP7 in coming months, we know that it would be no match for iOS 5 (expected this summer), Android 3.0 or even webOS 2.2 / 3.0. While a lot of analysis and explanations are expected later today, we now know for sure that Windows Phone 7 is coming to Nokia and thats most likely a desperate attempt to penetrate the US markets.

  • “nokia adds to platform confusion”………i mean u have lost your power of comprehending facts….nokia clearly stated that windows phone 7 will be its “primary software platform” for high-end devices & it decided to give meego the much needed space & time to evolve over long time (keeping it an option for future;seeing how critical & complex todays smartphone scenario has become ) ,simultaneously nokia decided to provide support for symbian platform for atleast 2 years from now since only an insane can afford to abruptly abondan something with over 200 million userbase.
I personally dont see anything wrong with the deal. Its an open fact that symbian is losing wars to ios & android and its high time to jump off the burning platform….given the present scenario of smarphone OSes,the only & best option was to embrace windows……………………………………………………
