Nokia Launches The X7 With Symbian “Anna”, Clear Black Display And New Ovi Maps

Just a day after a leaked video of the phone appeared, Nokia decided to finally make its much rumored handset, the X7’s existence public. The X7 runs the tried and tested Symbian OS – but a new version of it and comes with a redesigned UI, new icons, an updated browser and a host of other features. The stand out feature on the X7 is its large 4 inch display. This is similar to the one on the E7 complete with CBD technology and of course, gorilla glass.

The phone runs a new version of Symbian, the PR2. That codename has been changed to a rather feminine sounding “Anna”. All the existing Symbian^3 handsets would be updated soon to Anna.

The X7 is touted to be an all-out entertainment phone and features an 8 megapixel camera. It can record videos at 720p and boasts of a dual LED flash at the rear. The Nokia X7 comes with 8GB memory card pre-installed. It has 350 MB of internal memory and can take up to 32 GB of memory using microSD cards. The phone tips the scales at 146g and as expected from a handset of its class features almost all the necessary connectivity options – including Bluetooth, wi-fi b/g/n and USB. The screen resolution sadly, still remains at the Symbian standard 640*360 pixels.

The phone has a 1200mAH battery that is rated for up to 450 hours standby and 4.5 hours talktime on a 3G network. It comes with a new, revamped version of Ovi Maps.

The Nokia X7 will be available in Q2 2011 and, before taxes and operator subsidies, it will cost €380.
