Now a 70″ 3D display that requires no glasses!

A few weeks back we showed you the no-glasses 3D display by Sharp. Sharp built some small 3D displays for portable devices and claimed that it would take some time before the technology would come to larger displays. But, Japanese company Newsight has already brought the technology to a 70″ display.

Newsight demonstrated the no-glasses 70″ display at Finetech Japan 2010. The display uses parallax filter technology which devices the image into complex repeating segments, which give a 3D experience to the naked eye. Newsight also claims that the parallax barrier can be affixed to the commercial LCDs in a precision assembly process.

A major issue with these no-glasses 3D displays is that they have to be viewed at a particular angle and distance to enjoy the 3D experience, as we saw in the case of Sharp’s offering. While its the glasses in other 3D displays, the viewing space restriction on these displays may happen to be a deal breaker. But then I am sure if you can afford this thing, you sure have a large house :P
