Now Motorola is Found Guilty of Infringing Microsoft Patent By ITC

It was just yesterday that we heard the news of HTC being in trouble for infringing on an Apple patent. Well now just 24 hours later the International Trade Commission have passed another ruling which states that Motorola indeed infringes upon one of the seven patents which Microsoft had filed a lawsuit against in the court.

The patent in question is Microsoft patent number 6,370,566, which to be precise is a “generating meeting requests and group scheduling from a mobile device”. This one along with other six patents was filed by Microsoft as a complaint to the ITC last year.

Though the judge has not issued a ban on Motorola handsets or even given a time frame for a ban, like in the case of HTC which is given time till April 2012 to rectify the infringement in order to avoid its handsets from getting banned in the US. There is certainly more to come on this case from the ITC.

Though, Motorola has released a press release stating that they are happy to be cleared on six of the seven filed Microsoft patents. As per Motorola, the final verdict on the case can be only expected on April 20, 2012, and till then they have time to take steps to avoid infringement of the patent in question.
