Nvidia’s Tegra 2 and Android all set to battle Apple

This will definitely make Steve Jobs unhappy! News about the Android out selling the Apple iPhone has been buzzing on the web since last week and now Nvidia has left Microsoft for Google to power the new generation Android devices using the Tegra 2 chip.

We have already seen the previous Tegra in Zune HD and the Kin phones from Microsoft, but Nvidia is now going for Google to take down their feared rival, Apple and the iPad which is powered by the Apple A4 processor. Nvidia co-founder, Jen-Hsun Huang says that we can expect a huge range of Android based smartphones and tablets powered by the Nvidia Tegra 2 by the end of this year. Jen-Hsun believes that Tegra 2 can be a really brilliant processor, not just because it will be as powerful as the Apple A4 but also because it will mostly be powering a lot of Android devices.

This also means that we are going to see more powerful Android’s by the end of this year and there is no doubt that Android by itself has a lot of exciting possibilities. The new HTC Evo which is the latest Android smartphone has already made a solid impression and the Android fan base has started increasing.

Now, Nvidia Tegra 2 will have to battle rivals such as the Qualcomm Snapdragon, Intel Moorestown and of course the Apple A4. For the next generation Android devices to be really special Nvidia will have to work out some amazing features. But, this is yet to be known so stay tuned and will keep you updated as always.
