Panasonic Robot To Endure a 230km Triathlon, Evolta World Challenge IV

Evolta World Challenge IV

If you are wondering, why on earth is a robot running a triathlon and that too 230 km long? Well its Panasonic’s unique way of showing off the power of their rechargeable batteries called Evolta which is put to test every year by putting their robot also called Evolta in some or the other ‘grueling’ activity in an annual event called the “Evolta World Challenge” which is in existence since 2008.

Evolta World Challenge IV

In 2008, the first year of the Evolta World Challenge, Evolta climbed the Grand Canyon mountain at a height of 530.4m that too in only 6 hours and 46 minutes. In 2009, they put it to another test wherein Evolta cycled consistently for 24 hours in Lemont whereas in 2010 the robot traveled from Tokyo to Kyoto a journey of 500 kms. If still that doesn’t impress you, this year Evolta is going to participate in the Iron man Triathlon Course in Hawaii wherein it will swim, bike and run covering a distance of 230 kms.

The miniature robot, Evolta has successfully completed all the three World Challenges till date and is surely being expected to complete this one as well. Evolta is being designed and trained under the guidance of  Tomotaka Takahashi, who was the designer for the robot in all the three past World Challenges. And he has designed three exclusive suits for the Evolta to run, bike and swim (as you can see in all the three images).
