Reports Of Blackberry Phones Running Android Applications Leaked

Just a few days back we had reported that the Blackberry is trying to get Android applications to run on its Blackberry Playbook but just yesterday BGR reported that the Android application of a Mobile app developer called as ShopSavvy has been tested on multiple Blackberry devices.

This is great news for all the Blackberry users because according to ShopSavvy’s analytics data, and tracked by Flurry about three old blackberry devices accessed its servers running the shopSavvy app for Android.

The devices were as follows:

  • Blackberry 8300 – January 31, 2011
  • Blackberry 8600 – January 17 and 24, 2011
  • Blackberry 8520 – February 7, 2011

There is no clue as to why these old devices were used to test the Android applications but we sure know that something is cooking at the RIM headquarters, and according to the geographic data contained with the logs, ShopSavvy reported that the hits came from Waterloo, Ontario in Canada where RIM headquarter is situated.

This is great news for not only the Blackberry Playbook enthusiasts but also the Blackberry handset users, because this news clearly indicates that major Android applications will soon be coming for the Blackberry Mobile phones too. This will also be a major development for RIM as many people might even consider to shift from an Android device to a Blackberry device as both will be able to run the same applications.

We will be reporting more about this news so stay tuned.
