Review : Griffin Slap case for iPod Nano 6th Gen

Today, we at OnlyGizmos.com, are going to review a product that has been existing for almost two years now. You would ask, why review now, if the product has been around for quite some time. The answer to this is, the sheer awesomeness quotient that the product brings, has made us review it. Ladies and gentlemen, we present you Griffin Slap for 6th Gen iPod Nano.

Remember, Late Steve Jobs, made a joke about iPod Nano being worn as a watch in September 2010 when he announced the new iOS based media player. Who would’ve thought, that a joke by the then CEO of Apple, would have inspired many small industries to create an innovative product/accessory.

The Product

Griffin is a pretty common name when it comes to Apple related accessories. And they were amongst the first to reveal a product to accessorize the iPod Nano. They took yesterday’s concept of a ‘slap bracelet’ and turned it into an iPod Nano case, that looks and feels like a watch.

The Design

Griffin’s Slap is a simple design concept. It’s a watch band, that consists of a strip of flexible metal, coated with silicone-rubber which you could wrap around your wrist with ease. Also it doesn’t require any kind of clasps to keep the device, from falling off your wrists. Add to this a plastic lining inside of the case that holds your iPod nano firmly in place. Also once in the case, you can easily turn the device around in order to have the buttons and ports face in your preferred orientation. The makers have taken care, as to cater to color quotient of individuals as the Slap comes in a range of color options such as black, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, and pink.

User-friendly Quotient

It’s no doubt that, Griffin Slap is one of the best accessory for iPod Nano, given it comes at a price of about 1299 INR, but does it score on being user friendly experience? To start with, the device wears really well, irrespective the size of your wrist and you need not worry about either the Slap or iPod Nano falling off. It has cutouts for all the usual buttons like power and volume and a cutout for the 3.5mm headphone jack. The only issue that arises, is when one has to wear it around with earphones, that trail from wrist to my head. Feels a bit awkward.

The Verdict

Should you or should you not go for the Griffin Slap for 6th Gen iPod Nano, is the question. Well the device is definitely not perfection personified, but has more positives, than negatives going for it. The things that are going for the product – the price, the convenience and ease quotient, a cool fashion accessory and is available in a range of colors. Slap’s disadvantages is that, the silicone rubber makes it look cheap, there is no way to recharge the iPod Nano without pulling it out of the enclosure and finally, for some it might be just too bulky to wear it on the wrist.

Bottom-line

With a price of 1299 INR, Griffin Slap for 6th Gen iPod Nano is worth a try!!! The device is available at here at Stuffcool.com
