RIM’s BlackPad aka Blackberry tablet coming next month?

While we are still banging our heads against the iPad and discussing if the tablet is a necessity or a luxury, new players are entering the race each passing day. Now if you are a loyal Blackberry user and if no Apple iPhone has managed to sway you, RIM is making sure that they have an iPad competitor out there aswell. ?We heard about the Blackberry tablet some time back and the rumors have now resurfaced. Apparently Research In Motion (RIM) has blocked the domain name Blackpad.com and the BlackPad launch is being rumored for November, just in time to encash the holiday season (against the 2011 launch that was claimed earlier).

The pricing is said to be competitive with the iPad and starts at $499, however we wonder what gap RIM has identified and how they will justify having a tablet out there!

Update: It seems RIM also has the name ‘SurfBook’ trademarked for China. Hang on, this pattern sounds similar 🙂
