Samsung Galaxy Grand vs Samsung Galaxy Grand 2!

Samsung Mobiles earlier today announced a successor to its mid-range phablet – the GLAXY Grand. The Galaxy Grand 2 as the device has been christened gets added features and much better specs compared to the original. It would be launched in most major markets across Asia in the coming weeks. Let us now delve in to the features of the device.

To make things easier, I will make bullet lists that will describe the features of the phone and how those features compare to the older Galaxy Grand. You can then decide if the new Galaxy Grand 2 is a worthy upgrade to the older model.

Grand2_1

  • The display on the Galaxy Grand 2 measures 5.25 inches across and sports a resolution of 1280*720 pixels. The older Galaxy Grand had an 800*480 pixel, 5 inch display.
  • The processor on the Galaxy Grand is an unknown Quad Core chip clocked at 1.2 Ghz. The Galaxy Grand came with a Dual Core Cortex A9 chip running at 1.2 Ghz.
  • There is 1.5 GB of RAM on the Galaxy Grand 2 while the Galaxy grand had 1 GB of RAM, Internal memory on both the devices however remain the same at 8GB. Both have scope for further memory expansion using micro SD cards
  • The camera resolution and capabilities remain the same. Both the devices have 8 megapixel rear cameras with LED flash. There is a 2 megapixel front camera as well on both the phablets. It is unclear at this stage if the front camera on the Grand 2 can take better videos.
  • Both the devices weigh in at around 163 grams with the Note 2 being lighter by a mere 1 gram. But note that the Galaxy Grand 2 has a bigger display.
  • The battery capacity on the Galaxy Grand 2 has been increased to 2600 mAH. This is quite an upgrade over the 2100 mAH battery on the original Grand.

The newest Galaxy Grand will come preloaded with Android 4.3 at launch. We expect an upgrade to version 4.4 KitKat in the near future, though. The Galaxy Grand 2 will be offered in White, and Black and Pink colors. As of now, Samsung is yet to announce a tentative launch date or the price.

So what do you think? Are the new features worth waiting for?
