Got A Samsung Galaxy S II? Facing Any Of These Symptoms? And The Typo?

Galaxy S2There is no denying that Samsung Galaxy S2 is the only high end smartphone that I have seen so many people on my twitter timeline tweeting about. And it’s not just tweets talking about it, its tweets full of excitement, the excitement of a new gadget coming home. After years of seeing the hype and hungama of iPhone launches, for once I am seeing an Android phone making more noise than I have ever witnessed.

But with great popularity comes criticism and I am surprised to see the same people on my timeline talking about issues with the SGS2. I cross checked a few forums and could see that many are complaining about GPS, Camera, WiFi and Screen of the device.

SGS 2 Pink Camera Output Issue

The camera is said to throw in a little pink to all images

SGS 2 yellow screen

A yellow glow on one side of the display

SGS2 WiFi / GPS Issue

Another twitter user complaining about GPS / WiFi reception

SGS 2 Sound Issues

The second complain on sound we saw, saw some praises as well. You judge!

Now I would always take any such issues about a new issue with a pinch of salt, given that we have heard the same yellow screen and WiFi issues on the iPhone, but after looking at how Honeycomb was rolled-out, I have started to believe that we are living in a world of beta launches.

Many of these issues might well be fixed with firmware updates or might just be affecting a small number of users (or just an early judgement), we don’t know yet. Samsung isn’t speaking about them, but if you are out there buying a Samsung Galaxy S II, beware! and we would like to hear back from you.

PS: A non hardware issue, one of our friends on twitter seems to be upset out the “blunder of a typo” on the box. More signs of a rushed launch? (AMOLDED PLUS Display)

  • Ok this pink spot thing is software dependent and will go away, and typo shouldn’t bother an average user, so IMO the only real issue is with yellow tint. To be honest, I overtrained my eye to look for yellow spot so much so that I was almost seeing yellows on the bottom-left of my laptop screen as well! Perhaps the issue is there, but it is so hardly noticeable and more importantly, does not affect my pleasure of using this phone AT ALL. To anyone who’d wreck their brains but for absolute perfection, I’d advise you to stay away from the phone. For all normal people, go ahead and enjoy this marvel of technology as much as I’m doing!

  • I have none of these issues on mine. GPS is fast. It locks almost instantly, even indoors. It’s only a tad slower than my Atrix was. I have no yellow tint to my screen. Wifi seems week (signal indicator), but speed tests indicate that it is actually just as strong on my home router as my other devices. I think it’s just he way the system reports it.

This is hands down the best phone I have ever owned. The one and only complaint I could voice is the lack of an LED notification light.

  • It’s an over-priced P.O.S. The only good things about it are the dual core processor and amoled plus screen.

    • If you say so. I actually have it and it’s the best phone I have ever owned. Maybe you should hold one before you pass judgement.

  • I am using this phone since more than a week. Really an amazing phone.

Only complaint about this phone is “Heating”

When ever I use this phone for net browsing, GPS etc (and definitely not during calling) for some longer time it heats up so much that, it is difficult to use the phone for talking holding near to ears.

Well…. please let me know wether your phone heats up or not!!
