Samsung has sent out launch invitations for the Galaxy Unpacked event for unveiling the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ flagship phones. The successors of the Galaxy S8 and S8+ will be debuting on 25th February. It will be a pre-MWC 2018 event as the tech trade fair is slated to begin on 26th February in Barcelona, Spain.

The launch event will begin at 6 PM CET (10:30 PM IST) on 25th February. The company will also be livestreaming the event for its worldwide fans. The description of the launch invitation reads, “If a picture is worth a thousand words, the latest member of the Galaxy family has a lot to say. On 25th February, Samsung Electronics will showcase the next generation of Galaxy devices that reimagines the camera and redefines the way you share your moments.” This clearly hints that the next-generation Galaxy S series smartphones will be arriving with upgraded camera technology.

Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2018 for Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+

Recent reports have claimed that the Galaxy S9 and S9+ will be featuring a new ISOCELL module that was officially launched in October 2017. Equipped with Samsung’s “Tetracell technology,” it is capable of capturing impressive shots in low light conditions. With Smart WDR onboard, it will be able to shoot multiple exposures in a single shot.

Another rumor claims that depending on the light conditions, the cameras of the Galaxy S9 duo will able to smartly switch between aperture range between f/1.5 and f/2.4. The variable camera aperture was introduced by Samsung on the W2018 clamshell phone that is exclusively available in China. The new camera sensors on the Galaxy S9 and S9+ will bring support for super slow-motion video shooting at 480 fps. Leaked information has revealed that compared to the Galaxy S9, the S9+ will be a premium model that will feature higher specs including 12-megapixel dual rear cameras. The Galaxy S9 is expected to house a single lens on its rear. For shooting selfies, these phones are likely to feature an autofocus enabled 8-megapixel camera.
