Samsung Unveils The Galaxy A3, A5, E5 and E7 in India

In an event held in Mumbai today, Samsung launched four new phones. The phones are a part of the A and E series. Under the A series, they released the A3 and A5 and the E5 and E7 were launched in the E series. The Samsung Galaxy A3 and A5 launched for Rs. 20,500 and Rs. 25,500 respectively while the the Samsung Galaxy E5 and E7 will cost Rs. 19,300 and Rs. 23,000 respectively. Both the series aim to target the style conscious buyers. Samsung launched its first metal body phone; the Samsung Galaxy Alpha in 2014 and now the A series have a metal unibody too. Until now Samsung used to have Super AMOLED displays only on their flagship phones but this feature is now available on these phones too. All the devices have a 5 Megapixel front facing camera to give into the selfie craze. In order to get better self portraits, a user can simply show his palm and the camera will click a picture in 2 seconds. You can also click a picture by saying “cheese”. For people who like clicking selfies, these phones would be great. The other feature which is similar in all the phones is the processor. All four of them are powered by a 1.2GHz Quad-Core processor. The phones will be shipped with Android 4.4 KitKat and Samsung refused to comment as to when will they get the Lollipop update. Here are the key specifications of the four models —

These were big launches for Samsung. They have finally given in to demands for a non plastic phone. The mid-range segment is really getting competitive with many companies launching phones with high specs at reasonable prices. The devices are priced very closely and there are not big differences in them. Samsung also launched the Galaxy Core Prime and Galaxy Grand Prime in the recent past. It remains to see as to how well these phones do in the market.
