Samsung Will Launch 10 Phones In The Next Quarter

The world’s biggest smartphone seller, Samsung Electronics Company is planning its biggest ever launch in India. The company is all set to launch a wide range of latest smartphones in the next quarter in a move to fend off local and Chinese rivals in the mid-segment category.

The July-September quarter is going to be a a quarter full of launches for indian smartphone market. The South Korean company will introduce 10 smartphones in the Rs 9,000 to Rs 18,000 segment. This step is influenced by increasing popularity of Micromax Informatics, Lenovo-Motorola and  Xiaomi. Researches showed that with gaining user base of these local and chinese companies, there is a drop in the market shares in high- stakes mid segment of Samsung in the year 2014.

Samsung’s previous addition in this segment was the launch of older models like Galaxy Grand and Galaxy Core which have failed to stand up to competition. Smartphones account for 70% of the company’s revenue in India and this will be Samsung’s largest rollout of unique models in India.

Samsung has refused to comment on the market speculation. However, they said Samsung is committed to the Indian market and will continue to cater to the needs of consumers with innovative products and technology.

The korean smartphone maker will be introducing most of the new models under a new J series. Moreover, the 4G-compliant handsets will be made in India. Samsung will be launching its two models, Galaxy J7 and J5 next month as a first installment of this quarter.

Samsung wants to leave no stone unturned when it comes to gaining the position. After beating Apple in the premium smartphone segment last quarter, Samsung is now looking at extending its lead in the overall market by filling the gap with a new line-up in the Rs 9,000-18,000 segment and would spend hugely on promotions, said the CEO of a leading retailing chain.
