Sony Ericsson shows the Xperia Arc, with Bravia Engine display, Android 2.3

CES has seen some remarkable products so far, and Sony Ericsson has joined the party with one of the most spectacular smartphones we have seen so far. The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc was revealed as the “first of a new generation of Xperia smartphones to be announced in 2011,” and honestly, it looks extremely impressive. It has an arc-like shape in keeping with its name, is very thin indeed (a mere 8.7 mm at its thinnest point) and in terms of specs, packs a truly formidable punch. It has a 4.2 inch multi-touch display with Mobile Bravia Engine, an 8.1 MP camera capable of HD video, an HDMI connector, and what we like most of all – Android 2.3, making it the second high-profile device (after the Nexus S) to be running the latest version of Google’s mobile operating system.

It has got the looks, the specs and even the OS. Does Sony Ericsson finally have something that can be called an iPhone/Nexus S competitor? We are waiting for the release date and price before drawing any conclusions, but as of now, we are VERY impressed.
