Sony Launches Alpha NEX-3 and NEX-5 Compact DSLR Cameras In India

 Sony has announced the launch of its compact DSLR camera from the Alpha Nex Series in India today. Claimed to be the worlds smallest and lightest Interchangeable Lens Digital Cameras, the company is currently offering two models for India – the NEX-3 and the slightly more feature packed (and expensive) NEX-5. Both the cameras capture images at 14.2 megapixels using the APS-C type (23.4×15.6mm), “Exmor” APS HD CMOS sensor.

Both the cameras are equipped features like Background De-focus function, Full HD movie recording (1080i only on the NEX 5. The NEX 3 only gets 720p video recording), 7fps High Speed shooting and 3D Sweep Panorama and a 25-point autofocus system

NEX-5

The Background Defocus function lets defocus the background to make your main subject stand out from the scene. Panorama shots can be captured by sweeping the camera from one end to the other.

Selling close to a million cameras in India, Sony aims to Aims to sell 40,000 units of NEX series in India next year and considers this a phase as a concept testing. Currently Sony has 3 lenses available for Nex in India and would bring 7 more in the coming months. Other models in the Alpha range like the A55 would be available in January.

Sony has priced the NEX -3 at Rs. 29,990 while the expensive cousin NEX-5 will go for Rs. 34,990.
