ContactFlow may be new for App Store but was available previously for jailbreaked iPhones. The application allows iPhone users to browse through their contacts in a cover flow style. Its similar to browsing albums on an iPod.
While flipping through the contacts, the user needs to tap on a particular contact to flip the picture for calling options. The options involve calling, SMS and e-mail. The application is a standalone app and doesn’t integrate with the inbuilt contact application on iPhone. Which means, it would have to be used instead of using the built-in contact app.
The good thing is it would compel you to take photos of most of your contacts. I know its time consuming, but it would leave you with a lively contact book to browse through whenever you use your iPhone for calling/SMS/e-mail. The application is available on iTunes for $1.99. [iTunes Link]

The Happy Birthday Cake application available on iPhone app store would help you celebrate birthdays with as little efforts as possible. The application designed by appTOKYO would help you create a virtual cake on your iPhone. Then write the name of the birthday boy/girl on the cake with a cool message. The application lets you put some virtual candles on the cake. Just ask the birthday boy/girl to blow on the screen of iPhone and the candles go off with a happy birthday song for your friend. That’s a good idea for celebrating birthday during recession. But what if your friend brings in a fake cake on his birthday? You give him fake gifts

Apple is certainly now new to lawsuites, however this one is certainly very interesting. Apple has now been sued for promoting the iPhone as a ebook reader. Apparently the concept of a touchscreen ebook reader has been patented over 7 yers ago by Switzerland-based MONEC Holding Ltd.
A self-described “leading innovator for mobile, globally usable communication solutions,” MONEC claims to be in the business of “developing and marketing equipment for the transmission of data to mobile electronics communication systems, managing and utilizing patents in this area and awarding licenses.” [Source]
While the lawsuit doesnt make any direct reference, it is certain that Amazon’s free Kindle App has resulted this (Kindle is not the first ebook reader for the iPhone though). We really believe that such claims are unreasonable and goes against the smartphone culture that is fast picking up globally. Handhelds are going to be multipurpose and softwares would explore unseen capabilities of these samartphones. A ebook reader on the iPhone certainly brings the service to the masses and thats what matters the most!
