Designed by Pratt Institute student Suhyun Kim, this sexy looking phone has out-sliding pillars that open up a gorgeous touchscreen and is designed keeping in mind the needs of the hearing impaired. The USP of the concept is that it derives outgoing voice from keyed in text, to be sent over to a desired receiver and vice versa.

Most hearing impaired people, specially (more…)

Have a look again at this PC? Don’t you think they forgot the keyboard. Well, actually there is a keyboard, it’s a transparent keyboard that is looking almost invisible due to its dark biege background.
After Samsung launched an outrageous looking transparent PC at CES this year, MSI too joined the party. This is a concept PC, with a keyboard that apparently slides out only from the bottom (more…)

The beauty of concept devices is that they visualize things in a unique way. But, the challenge lies in bringing them to life. Sustail is one such concept that I would like to see in real life.
Sustail is a (toy like) mouse that is charged by human power. The mouse gets charged by a winding up through a key. It also has a sound feedback to show the level of charging done and indicates full charging. Sustail is not a real mouse. Its just a concept, but a noble one.

I wonder why any of the local Coffee shops didn’t think of this! CCD, Barista, seeing this? This cool Coffee table with speakers integrated in the legs is geeky and innovative at the same time. Though the problem of giving it power remains. And how about enabling this with a 3.5mm socket and bluetooth AD2P? Well guess we can do our on mods on this!
And why just Coffee table? I would love to have this on my office desk

Designer Adam Frederick has created a way (or maybe an appropriate arena)to heat up put an end to the war between the top two biggies of the gadget world, Apple and Microsoft. Frederick has brought both the sides on a conceptual chess board to battle it out in what could possibly end up as an un-friendly game of chess between geekfans of each gadget giant.
I may be wrong, but I detect a slight hint of partiality for the large fruit company, at least judging by the chessboard base. We at OG are also guessing you have at least one device from both the warring camps. If this chess match was to really take place, which side would you support? Tell us in the comments section.
Let the games begin!

The tech world has just about started talking about Sony Ericsson’s Xperia X2 and Xperia X3 smartphones when SE introduces the Xperia X5 concept. The very cool-looking X5 design undoubtedly beats any gadget or concept in existence for a mobile phone.
This concept was created by a designer who calls himself Tob!s. Features of the beautiful Xperia X5 include a futuristic slide-out QWERTY keyboard, the Android OS, a 12 Mp camera, and HD video recording viewable on a 3.5″ touchscreen. When considering any Xperia successor a year from now, the features look quite obvious. The designer also created the phone in three different colors – Chrome Silver, Ocean Blue and Sunny Orange.
Tob!s (the designer) truly has kept the SE design and innovative style in mind while developing this concept. Anyways, for now keep an eager eye out for the Xperia X2 (expected to go live real soon).

“Le Petit Prince” (or the ‘little prince’) is a robot concept designed to make plants from Earth sustainable on the planet Mars. The robot carries a plant inside it and keeps it alive by providing the living environment required. The four-legged robot will also be able to travel from one place to another in search of nutrition. More robots can communicate with each other through wireless connections to learn from each other about nutrient sources.
So when doomsday arrives and all on planet Earth is about to end, all we will need are these robots with plants secured in the robots’ glass cases to restart plant life and the accompanying benefits. Then we can all live happily ever after on Mars.
Video available after the break. (more…)

Here is another weird concept for a gadget, a watch that tells you how rockin was your party last nite! Sometime these concepts make me wonder, how well the makers of these concept understand the upcoming generations geeky needs
(remember the other clock we saw?).
When you are partying, the clock calculates the amount of fun you are having according to the decibel level of sound in the room. The sound level upto 10 decibels means ‘No Party’, 21 to 50 decibel level is a ‘cocktail party’, 101 to 120 would be a ‘club party’ and above that is one hell of a party. And incase you were wondering, well yes this does show time aswell

Though you are not going to see this anytime soon, presenting the LG HiFi concept that gives you a geeky cellphone that doubles as a headphone. HiFi is the winner of LG’s ‘Design the Future’ competition. While LG works this out to reality, we should please ourselves with these.
Complimenting its unique feature, this sleek and stylish headset can also be slid into the laptops and netbooks. This appealing handset undoubtedly redefines the concept of cellphones and hopefully will find a long way ahead. [Source]

The Flux chair is an awesome concept that saves a lot of space and looks good too. Flux chair is Flat sheet of polypropylene that can be folded to make a designer chair.
The chair has been casted out of single piece of polypropylene, the chair is completely recyclable. The unfolded sheet is just 5Kg in weight and can be easily transported. In just 10 seconds, the guided curved foldlines convert the sheet into a designer chair whose design beats a lot of the top-end chairs in its competition.
The judges called it “simple, innovative and easy to use” when the chair won the 2009 Philips Innovation Award. Polypropylene ensures that the chair remains in a good condition even when used outdoors. Available in two colors- Black and White. The chairs are currently shipped in Europe only and is available online from Flux @€129.00 ($180).

With this amazing chair concept, kids would certainly like to go to school more often
This little scooter easily transforms for into a school chair. I feel instead of attempting a $10 laptop, this is what the ministers should be promoting in rural areas!

We did see the Audi Flying car concept recently, but how about Flying one as soon as 2010…
Based on the Ferrari 599 GTB model, this 800 horse power monster plans to take off vertically and go @ 150mph in air and 100mph on ground. Powered by 8 thrusters Autovolantor will touch altitudes past 5000ft. But 2010? Too Optimistic I would say!

Imagine a PenPhone, not too difficult to visualize? Then consider a Pen Phone with a touchscreen, Still easy? Then imagine a Pen phone with a rollable touch screen! If this concept phone that we are looking at is to be believed, it would even feature a camera and off course it works as a normal pen as well. Also on offer is a mini bluetooth headset to make the phone part of the ‘concept’ easier.
More images downstairs
So do you mind speaking on a ‘ball pen’?
