Meet the geekiest auto driver in town!

January 2nd, 2010

Sandeep Bachhe is by far the most hi-tech and geekiest auto driver around. A step into his autorickshaw and you would wonder if its 2050 already. A resident of Bandra, Mumbai; Sandeep has a fully loaded ride that assures its passengers more facilities than a luxury cab. A few months back when I stepped into his vehicle while heading office, I was surprised to see a board with updated stock market index, gold and currency exchange rates and thats just the beginning. Check out the gallery below and I promise the next time you are out looking for a auto to take you home, you would silently hope that its Sandeep coming your way!

‘Printing Your Toast’ concept for the office geek

December 24th, 2009

printingyourtoast

Designer Othmar Mühlebach definately had some office geeks in his mind when he developed this concept. The concept called ‘Printing Your Toast’ is a printer styled toaster. The bread enters the toaster from the top and falls on the toaster base after it has been toasted. For the workoholic gadget lovers, this concept is sure fun.

The concept won second prize at the Berner Design Awards

Geek Accessory: Cassette converted into iPod case

August 7th, 2009

geek walkpod

It must have taken a real old fashioned Geek to covert old tape cassette’s into an iPod case. The old tapes were “gutted, routered and rebuilt” to give you this handmade iPod Nano 4G cover. On the front side of the tapes you can print / write your own custom label :)

So shall we now call them WalkPod? You can buy these from Contexture design for $49 CAD each. Now that’s not too expensive, but I would rather buy an additional pair of earphones!

July 18th, 2009

flux-foldable-chair

The Flux chair is an awesome concept that saves a lot of space and looks good too. Flux chair is Flat sheet of polypropylene that can be folded to make a designer chair.

The chair has been casted out of single piece of polypropylene, the chair is completely recyclable. The unfolded sheet is just 5Kg in weight and can be easily transported. In just 10 seconds, the guided curved foldlines convert the sheet into a designer chair whose design beats a lot of the top-end chairs in its competition.

The judges called it “simple, innovative and easy to use” when the chair won the 2009 Philips Innovation Award. Polypropylene ensures that the chair remains in a good condition even when used outdoors. Available in two colors- Black and White. The chairs are currently shipped in Europe only and is available online from Flux @€129.00 ($180).

Disadvantages of being a Tech Savvy Geek!

July 11th, 2008

Idiot using computer

Being good with computers and gadgets can be a trouble. Many of our team here at OG itself suffer from it. And the situation is such here that even before answering a few friends we know what they are calling for :)

The main problem with being tech savvy is that everyone looks to you to solve their gadget-related issues. – Gizmodo Poll

At times we find ourselves in weird problems, with people expecting to sell off some Numismatic Gold Coins on eBay (because someone fooled them that it sells for x times the value on eBay), or asking us secrets of those Make $$$ from home Ads (click frauds). Once someone asked me why isn’t the music coming from the speakers – Answer “because you have connected the headphones ^^&*)”

Head on to Gizmodo and answer the poll. The options are

“Do You Get Stuck Fixing Everyone’s Gadget Problems?”
Yes, but I’m paid to do it.
Yes, people often ask me to fix their gadget problems.
No, people don’t usually come to me with their gadget problems.
I’m not super tech savvy, so it wouldn’t make sense to come to me with gadget problems.
Other.
