GPS on phone is now something very common and just one of the things the smartphone boom has brought to us. As much as these mobiles threat the digital camera market, portable GPS navigation devices have now become one of the endangered species. Guest post and interview by @sengupta
Having watched his infamous 80 minute Google Wave demo twice over- we sure were looking forward to see the man in real life. And the man did not disappoint. He handled numerous technical and organizational snags with his characteristic sense of humour- what with his VPN not working (“so you’ll just have to imagine what it looked like”) and an IITian having to hold up a mike while he was typing after his collar mike died.
It was rather telling how (more…)

We want to take Maps to the next level, rethink how users use Maps and change the way people find things. We want to do this in a seamless, highly interactive and enjoyable way. We’ve only just started.
Currently the iPhone / iPod touch uses the Google Maps which comes in the form of a native app. However Apple had acquired a Map co PlaceBase in July which could now be developing into something that can replace the Google offering.
Apple and Google certainly (more…)

Without getting all melodramatic and thinking back to ‘life without Google Maps’, I can personally assure that this product has changed the way we plan meetings and events. Google conveniently gives the option to *not* leave much to the imagination when visualizing what it must feel like to walk down streets abroad. And now Google Maps has been updated with changes which, (more…)
