Hackers have found a new way to get into the PCs of Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 using a hole through the Internet Explorer. The bug allows hackers to remotely control the PCs of the IE users.
The infection looks quite serious as the user just has to visit a website to fall prey to the hackers. The links included in spam have been giving criminals an easy access to the victim’s PC for the past week or so.

Web security firm, Symantec has reported a growing tendency among cyber criminals to test out their stolen credit card numbers by using them to donate money to charities. However, these fraudsters are not to be mistaken for the new age Robin Hoods, because their motives are not driven by kindness, but the fact that credit card companies and banks have gotten wiser.
The verification method has become popular because the monitoring software at credit card companies may not question donations to charities, the security company said.
Symantec said the schemers usually donate less than $10.
“This happens all the time,” said American Red Cross spokeswoman Carrie Martin. “We have people at the Red Cross who deal with this type of activity.”
Last month alone, the Red Cross refunded 700 fraudulent credit card transactions, Martin said. That figure doesn’t include the transactions the charity blocked because they appeared fraudulent.
“There’s a lot of red flags we look for,” Martin said. For instance, the Red Cross automatically cancels any series of donations with the same e-mail address but a variety of credit card numbers.
Symantec said consumers should monitor their credit card statements and question even a small transaction that appears to be unauthorized, as it could indicate the card number has been stolen.

According to an IDG report, Microsoft is once again inviting members of the hacking community to its Blue Hat conference to enable hackers help them understand where exactly the company is going wrong.
Derived from the name – Black Hat (security conference), this year’s Blue Hat conference has already commenced Wednesday at the Microsoft campus at Redmond, Washington. The initial talks include topics such as mobile security, hardware hacking, security tools, and the underground economy, amongst others.
Typically held twice a year, the Blue Hat conferences are closed to most outsiders but draw hundreds of Microsoft employees.
The name Blue Hat derives from the Black Hat security conferences. The “Blue” part comes from the colour of badges that Microsoft staffers wear on campus.
The conference gives the security community a chance to share information with Microsoft, says Robert Hansen, CEO of web security consultancy Sectheory.com, who will be talking about web hacking at the conference. “We’re all just starting to build relationships with each other,” he says.
