Bluetooth file transfer app comes to the iPhone via App Store

August 19th, 2009

bluetooth-p2p

A free App Store app brings to you one of the most wanted features on the iPhone / iPod touch. ‘Bluetooth Photo Share’ lets you transfer images between any two iPhone’s or iPod touch (2nd generation) using bluetooth. Currently all data sharing apps on the AppStore that lets you transfer a file between two iTouch’s requires WiFi or 3G connection, however this FREE app does the trick using Bluetooth.

The iPhone OS 3.0 allowed usage of Bluetooth for multi-player gaming, but file transfer was never discussed. One of the major downers for the iPhone in all our reviews has been the lack of Bluetooth file transfer and USB mass storage mode. Though this app does not allow you to transfer audio files or other documents, its a good feature to have at least for image sharing. If only now Apple lets it talk to other smartphones, or probably we are wishing for a little too much :)

Update: Just to clarify, we have heard of iBluetooth for Jailbroken iPhones. But the app never got the updates to accommodate many features that the developer had promised. Doubt if anyone enjoys that and nevertheless Bluetooth Photo Share is official!

While Pre fans smash iPhones or crash into Sprint store – Apple’s response aka iPhone 3.0 is coming in a few hours @ WWDC 09.

iPhone 3 is buzzing – Rumors round up

May 30th, 2009

WWDC 09 is around and here we have a bunch of iPhone rumors and news coming up on iPhone Help. Here is a quick look at whats hapenning with the iPhone 3.0 -

  • Will the new iPhones / iPod Touch allow wireless video downloads? Apparently Apple has been training its staff @ Apple Care outlets to handle queries regarding the same. It is rumored that with the renewed AT&T 3G network Apple might even allow unlimited video download over 3G and not just WiFi. Currently Apple allows music downloads directly from your iPhone.
  • Leaked screenshots reveal that iPhone 3.0 will allow right to left typing and option to add reviews on the iTunes store directly from your iPhone handheld. The beta OS seems to have spilled the beans over a lot of Apple’s plans to enahance the iPhone / iPod touch offerings.
  • Claims of iPhone 3rd Gen parts being on sale in China were heard last week. Not sure how true they are, I feel its just some site / spares mfg trying to get some cheap publicity like we saw the case manufacturers do for iPhone nano. Read here
  • Wild Rumor as I call it – Apple planning 6 differnet versions of the iPhone! Unlikely and impossible but reports as always suggest :P
  • A couple of leaks revealing iPhone 32GB were seen. One from T-Mobile Austria and another from AT&T itself. However none of these name the new model, guess they were caught testing their website with placeholders it seems. Some info on pricing aswell … see here

Update: Leaked images of autofocus camera, video and more reveals a lot about the next iPhone. Looks genuine.

T-mobile website confirms iPhone 32GB?

May 22nd, 2009

iphone-30-tmobile

Apple likes to maintain super secrecy about its upcoming releases. But its partners aren’t the best keepers. This time its T-Mobile Austria that’s flaunting an iPhone 32GB in its ‘Coming Soon’ section. Not sure how long this leak would stay live on their site but more or less this confirms the obvious memory update to the iPhone. No mention of what the next model shall be named, seems to me as if T-Mobile+Apple don’t mind this little detail leaking out :)

The new iPhone would sport a magnetometer

May 10th, 2009

iphone-magnetometer

Magnetometer or a compass is already a feature on the T-mobiles’s G1. The BGR’s debug of the Apple 3.0 suggest that the iPhone would too sport a magnetometer. The magnetometer requires special hardware support. So, i guess it would be availabe only on the new iPhone (3rd gen).

The Magnetometer would support many other interesting feature besides a needle pointing towards the North pole. The magnetometer, coupled with your GPS chip and the camera, would give you detailed information about where you are and which direction you need to go along with the names and descriptions of the Buildings you see around you. Sounds like lot of work.

Many beta testers, developers and excited iPhone fans have their hands on the iPhone OS 3.0 already. A lot has been revealed/rumored about the upcoming features in the iPhone(s) that is expected to be announced at WWDC 09.

A camera upgrade is certain in nextgen iPhone, however it seems that loading OS 3.0 on your 2G or 3G iPhones improves image quality and reduces blur. The pic above is posted by iphones.ru, and we can clearly see the difference between the clarity of a snap taken from the iPhone firrmware 2.2.1 and 3.0. More iPhone News
